Zzungry- Food tasting & 17th FBAB Meet

Certain words which relate to a five star restaurant visit are- Fancy, Lavish, Premium, Expensive etc etc. Zzungry has stepped into the food delivery business with a great thought of making five star quality food available to mass market at a less expensive price point. I was lucky enough to try out their preparations on two occasions, one of them during the Food Bloggers Association, Bangalore (FBAB) 17th meetup.

Zzungry is a delivery only food start-up with a weekly changing menu. They currently have two fully functional kitchens in Indiranagar and HSR Layout. The areas covered for delivery are HSR, Indiranagar, BTM, Koramangala, Old Airport Road, New Tippasandara, Domlur, Bellandur, Bommanahalli, Murugeshpalya, Bagmane Tech Park and CV Raman Nagar.

APPETIZERS:

Bharvan Murg Hyderabadi

Bharvan Murg Hyderabadi

These are smoky drumsticks cooked in  an imperial Hyderabadi styled tandoor. Enriched with mellow flavour of hung curd , the well cooked chicken falls right off the bone. As you bite into the tandoori charred exterior, the juicy interiors reveal a filling of spiced chicken mince. This dish is served with the classic mint chutney.

Kasuri Murg Tikka-

Malai Paneer

Malai Paneer- This is a vegetarian’s delight. Paneer accentuated with freshly  ground cardamom. Its silky texture is complimented by the sweetness of malai and cheese .The dish is crowned with the use of mild Indian spices.

CURRIES:

Murg Badshah Pasanda– This preparation is a perfect start for main-course. Juicy chicken pieces marinated with Indian spices and cooked over glowing ember. This flavourful curry is topped with chopped Indian herbs.

Mutton Kohlapuri– RED ALERT is an apt description! Kolhapuri mutton curry made in an onion and garlic gravy with a hint of poppy seeds and coconut. This curry is sumptuous, fiery and delicious. The mutton is so tender and succulent that it goes well with bread as well as rice. I would prefer rice (personal opinion).

Bhojpuri Dum Aloo– A dish inspired from Bhojpuri cuisine. Spring onion cooked in spices makes the flavourful stuffing of the potatoes. This curry can be enjoyed with bread or rice.

Paneer Rezala- Soft Paneer cooked in creamy cashew and poppy seed gravy. Paneer rezala is a perfect example of what royal curries can be like. It’s all about subtle spices; delicate aroma and creamy scrumptious gravy.

ACCOMPANIMENTS (as Zzungry calls it):

Matar Pulao- Long grain basmati rice cooked with mushroom and peas with hint of saffron. This flavourful rice is perfectly cooked in dum style and can be enjoyed with curries.DSC_0099

Phulka E Shabeena- These are one of the softest rotis (phulka) that I have ever had till date, indeed deserves to be called the ideal accompaniment to main course. This set contains two pieces of Tomato and spinach induced roti. Loved the name of this particular item on their menu, which means ‘Variants of Phulka’ (according to me!).

DESSERTS: Limited options here, but one can never go wrong with what is on offer. Chenna Makhana Sangam and Gulab Jamoon Panjgiri to name a few, they have got a tinge of sweetness, not sweet bomb types which is why it is not heavy on the stomach (I like it this way).DSC_0074

VERDICT: The potential is massive, they have a winner at hand. The team behind Zzungry have done their homework and the results are evident. Each dish in their menu has been carefully crafted to keep in mind only one thing- Five Star quality preparation. I am game for more, are you?  Visit Zzungry for more.
