Experiencing Wonderla Resort, Bangalore

One thing we all are looking for during the holiday season is that perfect getaway to escape from the chaotic city life and get cocooned in a surrounding that is away from the maddening crowd and lets you relax in the best possible way. We all know about Wonderla, it is christened with the title of India’s best amusement park, but what you also need to also know is about Wonderla Resort, which is all set to let you experience luxurious living during your stay here. Read on to know more about our experience.

Wonderla is roughly 35 km away from Bengaluru and around 120 km from Mysuru which makes it an ideal destination for holiday without the stress of long travelling hours. Ola and Uber connectivity along with the availability of many bus services ensures that reaching Wonderla is not hassle-free.

The check-in time is 11 AM, post which we had a quick breakfast at the Woods, the buffet spread is quite elaborate covering South Indian and English breakfast options. We filled our tummies with nice and hot Idli and Vada with sambhar and chutney.

It was time to check in to our room. Wonderla has three different selections here, they are as follows:

  • Deluxe Rooms – You get twin beds and an area of 255 sq. ft. offering a beautiful view of the hillock.
  • Executive Rooms – Spread across 267 sq. ft. in size and has a king size bed. These rooms offer a spectacular view of the Wonderla Amusement Park
  • Executive Suites – If you want signature living then look no further, they come with a separate living area apart from the bedroom. Spread across a good 532 sq. ft. these rooms are ideal for families and corporate professionals who would want some extra space to work.

We were put up in the deluxe rooms which are extremely value for money, the washrooms are neat and there is enough space for storage making sure the living space remains clutter free.

The Wonderla resort offers a ton of amenities that you can make use of during your stay, the highlight is the temperature regulated swimming pool. A full-fledged gym that has good quality equipment to ensure fitness enthusiasts aren’t disappointed. We glanced through the kid’s activity area and the recreation rooms housed on the first floor of the resort.

The recreation room is filled with games like chess, carom, foosball, pool table and so on. The availability of banquet halls is an added advantage to business travellers and corporates who are looking for a business or fun team outings.

After checking out all of these, we decided to check out the Wonderla Amusement Park, for people staying in the resort there is transport facility that can be availed to transit between and resort and amusement park. Zahoor and I tried the High Thrilled rides only as we had previously been to Wonderla and wanted to get the most of our visit this time!! First up was the ‘Recoil’, this roller coaster ride goes up to 80 kmph and is a sure shot way to quench the need of adrenaline rush.

Recoil

We then tried the Insanity, a ride that is capable of twisting and turning you in every possible angle at great speeds! So here is a tip if you are looking for photo ops – ‘The Recoil’ and ‘Wonder Splash’ rides have got options to get high-quality photographs that you can carry back home as memories. Ask the staff before entering recoil to sit in the row where they have a video camera attached and you can take home a complete recording of how you were playing with expressions during the run… trust me, the video is so much fun to watch. After a tiring session we decided to head back to the resort for lunch, for people who have opted for amusement park only there are many dining options within the premises – Park View Restaurant, Chillies Restaurant, Greens Restaurant, Waves Restaurant, Courtyard Restaurant and Crazy Pizza along with many other stalls ensure your hunger needs are taken care of in the best possible way.

Getting back to the resort was a quick drive of not more than 2 mins! We again proceeded to the Woods. This fine dining restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with impeccable service from well-trained staff. Two options, to begin with, a buffet or a la carte which meets expectations of all kind of diners. We decided to go for a la carte and one glance through the menu was enough for us to realise that there are tons of options here ranging from traditional Indian dishes to dishes inspired from continental and oriental cuisines and everything in between like Burger, Sandwiches, Pizza and so on! Luckily, the menu is designed in a very systematic way and highlights the dishes that are chef’s special, we decided to try out only these.

Dragon Chicken

Next, we ordered for the Dragon Chicken and Kozhi Mulagu Varuval, the latter being pepper chicken, we loved them both and finished the entire serving among the two of us. Our main course was Murg Afgan with Garlic Naan, the rich gravy is mildly spicy and went very well the Naan.

Wonderla Triple Chocolate Slice with Fruit Caulis

Dessert options at Woods is impressive, you get to choose from a large selection of Ice Cream, a sugarless Apple Cinamon Pie and other traditional Indian desserts. What again caught our attention was the special Wonderla Triple Chocolate Slice with Fruit Caulis. What an end to our meal, we loved it all. From our experience of staying at various resorts and visiting amusement parks, a good dining experience is something that lacks but at Wonderla Resort we were actually happy and felt overly satisfied by our lunch at the Woods.
